Subcommittee report

Committee business

The committee met at 0900 in committee room 1.

Subcommittee report

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Good morning, everyone. Thank you for being here today.

The subcommittee met on December 4, and we are now going to—oh, sorry, on December 9. We met on December 4, too, but December 9 this week.

We have a report. Could I ask for a member to read the report? MPP Denault.

MPP Billy Denault: Just read it?

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Yes, please read it.

MPP Billy Denault: In its entirety? Okay: “That the Chair, on behalf of the committee, send a letter to the Mississauga”—

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Sorry, MPP Denault—all the way from the start.

MPP Billy Denault: All the way from the start? Okay.

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): “Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs”—

MPP Billy Denault: Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

Your subcommittee met on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, to consider the project to restore the legislative building at Queen’s Park, including any relocation of legislative operations to a temporary location throughout the project, and recommends the following:

(1) That the Chair, on behalf of the committee, send a letter to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation’s council offering to host them at Queen’s Park for a building tour.

(2) That the letter include a summary document detailing what the committee has heard from members of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation to date concerning the project to restore the legislative building at Queen’s Park, as well as a request for feedback on the document’s contents and an offer to forward that document to the attention of the attention of the Queen’s Park Restoration Secretariat.

(3) That the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation’s council be offered the option of submitting additional feedback at their convenience, which may also be forwarded to the attention of the Queen’s Park Restoration Secretariat.

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Thank you. Can you move the adoption of the report?

MPP Billy Denault: I move the adoption of the subcommittee report.

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Great. Any debate on the report?

Mme Dawn Gallagher Murphy: No, I think we’re done.

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Wow, that’s incredible—great reading.

Okay, can we have the vote? All in favour of the subcommittee report? Any opposed? No? Okay. I move that the report is accepted. We’ll work on that and get that out.

Committee business

The Chair (Ms. Teresa J. Armstrong): Also, I wanted to bring up another piece of business. This committee, in the previous session, was able to meet outside of the House sitting. That permission or that opportunity hasn’t been—given us that authority any more. We don’t have that permission going forward. So I wanted to write the House leaders for that authority to meet any time with this committee business outside of the House sitting. If we’re all in agreement with that—is everyone agreed? All in agreement? Okay, so we’ll send that out to the House leaders so that we have some flexibility.

Is there any further business? Does anyone else want to bring anything up? Okay, then I want to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Thank you for being here today, and I wish everyone well.

Thank you. I adjourn the meeting.

The committee adjourned at 0904.
