STANDING COMMITTEE
ON PROCEDURE
AND HOUSE AFFAIRS

COMITÉ PERMANENT
DE LA PROCÉDURE
ET DES AFFAIRES DE LA CHAMBRE

Tuesday 16 April 2024 Mardi 16 avril 2024

Appointment of subcommittee

The committee met at 0900 in room 151.

Appointment of subcommittee

The Chair (Ms. Jennifer K. French): Good morning, everyone. The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs will now come to order.

The first order of business today is that we’ve had a few changes to our committee. As MPP Harris is no longer a permanent member of this committee, there’s effectively also a vacancy for the government member—

Interjection.

The Chair (Ms. Jennifer K. French): I’m going to start over. As MPP Harris is no longer a permanent member of this committee, there is effectively also a vacancy for the government member on the subcommittee on committee business. Is there a motion to appoint a government subcommittee member? I recognize Mr. Rae.

Mr. Matthew Rae: Good morning, Chair and all my colleagues. To replace the illustrious Mr. Harris, I move that MPP Bob Bailey be appointed to the subcommittee on committee business—sorry, Robin.

The Chair (Ms. Jennifer K. French): Mr. Rae has moved that Mr. Bob Bailey, who has also been added to the committee but is not present to win, has been suggested as the government member. So he’s moved a motion. Is there any debate? In that case, are members ready to vote on Mr. Bailey? All those in favour? All those opposed? Okay, Mr. Bailey is now the government member on the subcommittee. The motion is carried.

As members have been told, we are now moving into closed session. So we’ll recess for five minutes as that happens.

The committee recessed at 0902 and later continued in closed session.
