Legacy of a People’s Park

Today, when Ontarians hear the term “Queen’s Park”, they most often think immediately of their Provincial Government. Such is the consequence of its location. Yet, for many visitors who see the words on a Toronto map, Queen’s Park still appears as a green patch in the heart of the city. If they come across it in their travels, they are not disappointed that a park is what they find. It is true to say that much about Queen’s Park has changed since 1860. Yet even with the passage of time, the involvement of many different interests, and the encroachment of an ever-growing city, it remains a place for people.
