Scouts and Guides Tours

This experience for Scout and Guide groups of 10 or more, provides a unique opportunity to discover Ontario's Parliament. This program, tailored to each group, offers Scouts and Guides a fun and engaging first-hand look at how provincial parliament works, as they tour the historic Chamber and Legislative Building, culminating with an interactive group activity (scavenger hunt or a mock debate).

Program length: 90 minutes

Scouts and guides will participate in one of the following group activities:

  1. Mock Debate: scouts and guides will debate a fictional provincial bill, as they take on a parliamentary role, including wearing some traditional uniforms. Roles consist of government and opposition MPPs, Speaker, Clerk, and Sergeant-at-Arms. Parliamentary roles will be assigned at random, so everyone (chaperones included) must be prepared to use their imaginations. Following the moderated debate, the Scouts and guides will vote on their mock provincial bill.
  2. Parliamentary Scavenger Hunt: scouts and guides will discover facts about Ontario and parliament as they explore the historic Legislative Building during their scavenger hunt.
