Question Period Program
Recommended for Grades 4-8
Program length: 60 minutes
This program, offered only when the Legislature is in session, gives students an opportunity to experience Parliament in action! During this program, students will observe a parliamentary session during Question Period followed by an interactive discussion where we will review what they observed during their session, and provide an introduction about Ontario's Parliament. Please note, electronic devices are not permitted in the Chamber during the session.
What is Question Period or Oral Questions?
Question Period is a specific time allotted every morning in the daily schedule of the meetings of the Legislature. It is an opportunity for MPPs to ask the Premier and Cabinet Ministers questions about government policy and current issues.
- Watch Question Period online at www.ola.org or on television if available (check local cable listings).
- Discuss current issues facing the Ontario government – collect newspaper clippings or read online news reports. Can you predict which topics might come up during Question Period?
Monday to Thursday: 10:00 am or 11:00 am. *To see when the Legislature is in session, check the Parliamentary Calendar.
