Virtual Model Parliament for High School Students
The Virtual Model Parliament program for high school students with the Legislative Assembly of Ontario is designed for civic-minded Ontario students in grades 10 to 12, who are interested in current events and provincial issues. This unique experience brings students from across the province together online for a 10-week program from September to December. Students will learn how parliament works through a series of workshops and assignments and have the opportunity to meet key figures in Ontario’s Parliament. They will participate in a simulation where they take on the role of a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in a live debate and forge new friendships with like-minded students. Young Ontarians who participate in this program will gain a stronger understanding of the province’s parliamentary practices, traditions and the importance of the democratic process.
